Today, 6 April, marks the first day of applications with those successful being awarded a one-off £250 grant
The charity has fundraised over £400,000 to date to support drinks industry professionals affected financially by the coronavirus pandemic. Today, 6 April, marks the first day of applications with those successful being awarded a £250 grant.
The Covid-19 Emergency Fund is aimed at two groups of professions: firstly, those who have been made redundant and not reinstated and therefore can’t access the chancellor’s salary grant scheme; and secondly, those on zero-hour contracts who will only receive small levels of money from the salary grant scheme.
Applicants also have to have worked in the on-trade (bars, pubs, restaurants and hotels), off-trade (alcohol retailing businesses) or distribution.
Successful applicants will get a one-off financial grant of £250, paid straight into their bank account, and those with health conditions or who are caring for dependents will be prioritised.
As The Drinks Trust expects a high level of demand, the window for applications will be limited from 6 April to 10 April 2020. If further funds become available, it will look to extended the scheme.

Donators to the fund include Pernod Ricard, Concha y Toro UK, Sipsmith, Whisky Auction, Fox and Fox, and Asterly Bros.
