A new not-for-profit scheme, launching this week, aims to enable pubs across the nation to trade as ‘click and collect’ hubs for essential items.
Mypubshop.com will be powered by StarStock, an e-commerce specialist and will give licensees the ability to take and process orders online.
The platform gives pubs the ability to host a web shop with licensees able to select items for their shop and provide an online payment service. Once orders are placed by customers, pubs will operate a collection service from their venues.
The service has been launched in partnership with Brakes, Budweiser Brewing Group, Coca-Cola European Partners and Use Your Local.
Admiral Taverns, Greene King Pub Partners and St Austell, have already sigend up their pub estates, which combined equal to 2,170 venues.
Brakes, is also opening up the service to the 15,000-plus pubs it regularly supplies and is offering participating venues a food shop ‘starter kit’.
A 2% fee on each transaction made via mypubshop will cover operational cost but the venture is being run as not-for-profit and any surplus revenue will be donated directly to the NHS.
Sam Ulph, founder & CEO of StarStock, said: ‘This initiative is much more than an online pub service.
It’s entirely focused on helping communities and we hope that it will drive positivity for pubs and champion the people that run them as the local heroes they are.’
The mypubshop service launches this week, is available nationwide and interested licensees can register to use the service at www.mypubshop.com.
