Introduction to Ciroc Vodka
Ciroc vodka is a premium beverage brand created by a British multinational, Diageo. The relatively higher price, when compared to low-cost brands, is backed up by the quirk that, unlike most vodka brands, Ciroc is produced by distilling grapes rather than the usual grains or potatoes. Whether or not the taste is affected at all is a matter of serious contention online, with some people claiming it tastes strongly of grapes while others assert it just tastes like vodka (which is not to say other flowery terms won’t be added to the description, like “luscious,” “complex,” or even “revolutionary”).
The brand is fairly recent, with the founder Jean-Sebastien Robicquet having only established it in his native France in 2001. In the music world, Ciroc was elbowed into a variety of music videos, got massive visibility at concerts, and recently even had its name put on a studio in Los Angeles that donates its services to aspiring musicians as a marketing tactic.
But this was bigger than just hip-hop. In the mainstream, Combs and friendly celebrities would star in commercials identifying the vodka as one of the necessary components of a life of luxury. The campaign worked, not only causing sales to soar, but also granting Ciroc a strong reputation as a high-end liquor in the same class as Grey Goose or Belvedere.

This is about the same as its main competitor in popular US culture, the French brand with an astoundingly similar story, Grey Goose. Grey Goose also costs about $50.00 per 1.75 liters on average. It’s hard to say which “premium” brand has the highest esteem these days, but Grey Goose enjoys the benefit of experience – having a presence in the US almost 10 years longer than Ciroc.

Ciroc Ten
For those who really want to impress at the club, Ciroc has come out with Ciroc Ten, which costs around $250.00 and is only available in a one-liter bottle. The taste is reportedly good, although most say that it’s not worth the price tag on taste alone. But then again, those who are looking to purchase this caliber of drink probably aren’t too worried about its high prices. It’s up to Combs to prove that he can make a big enough name for Ten to link it to extreme financial stability in the popular mind.
Fruit-Flavored Ciroc
The fruity Ciroc is a lot more reasonable when compared to Ten or even the plain variant of Ciroc. They cost about $30.00, which is only about 2 or 3 times more than the cheapest brands. For comparison, Smirnoff pineapple vodka costs about $12.00 for 750 ml while Ciroc’s pineapple drink can be found for as low as the mid-twenty dollar range.
Is Ciroc Vodka Gluten-Free?
Diageo is also trying to tap into the lucrative gluten-free market by specifically mentioning this nutritional point in their Ciroc advertising. You can find the gluten-free disclaimer on many of the individual product pages on Ciroc’s official website, such as for the coconut flavor and the peach flavor.
This will come as no surprise to some, as scientists argue that all vodkas are liberated of gluten through the distillation process. Nevertheless, it is a sound marketing move for Ciroc advertising to mention this specifically. This is especially true for flavored vodkas, as people assume they could possibly have ingredients with gluten even if the base ingredient doesn’t.
Common Recipes: What To Mix With Ciroc Vodka
It is often claimed that the premium vodka brands on the level of Ciroc, Grey Goose, or Belvedere can be comfortably consumed on the rocks, or even neat, as opposed to budget brands which should be mixed if you want to avoid getting a bad taste in your mouth. Even if that’s true in your case and you have no problem downing hard alcohol in rocks glasses, you’ll probably want a few recipes to keep things fresh.
