Campari UK raises over £32k for The Drinks Trust

The staff donation of more than £16k was matched by the business and donated to the industry in light of the covid-19 pandemic

The money will help to provide urgent care, support and assistance to members of the drinks industry during the current crisis.

The donation also forms part of the Campari Group’s global initiative, ‘Shaken not Broken’, which sees a series of charitable donations made globally to help those hit hardest by the pandemic.

‘We as a business were moved by the team’s personal fundraising effort, and there was no question that we had to match this for The Drinks Trust – which is doing such valuable work with those hit hardest in these uncertain times,’ said Brad Madigan, managing director at Campari UK.

He continued: ‘No one could have predicted the situation we find ourselves in today as a global community, as a country, and as an industry. What is important now more than ever is to pull together and support one another, so we come out the other side stronger and more resilient.’

The Drinks Trust has received support from across the drinks sector in response to the coronavirus crisis, which has seen an unprecedented number of hospitality staff lose their jobs. The Campari UK donation will support those who have lost their income, through mental health and wellbeing services.

In response to Campari UK’s donation, Ross Carter, chief executive of The Drinks Trust said: ‘The impact of COVID-19 on the drinks industry will be felt for years to come. As the drinks sector’s charity, we are doing all we can to support our employees who ask for help, but we can do more and reach more people, with donations from our partners like Campari UK.’
