Why Premium Chilean Wine Demands Your Attention

When it comes to Chilean wine, most Americans know one brand: Concha y Toro, even if they don’t know it’s from Chile. Even within the wine trade, many sommeliers and wine buyers only associate Chile with Carmenère: an interesting novelty but not necessarily the basis for a vibrant wine export industry. Yet Chile is ideally suited for growing wine grapes, with a Mediterranean climate and growing regions that, due to their isolation, have far less disease pressure than almost anywhere else on Earth.

That’s the topic for this week’s VinePair podcast, as Adam reports in from Santiago, Chile on the current state of the Chilean wine industry and talks about the unique vineyards and incredible wines he’s explored.
