Wine and spirits company Biggar and Leith has unveiled its new amaro brand, Stambecco Maraschino.
The new expression hails from Italy’s Piedmont and is produced by Torino Distillate by using a range of 30 herbs and spices including sweet and bitter oranges, coriander seeds, marjoram, oregano, wormwood, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, and maraschino cherries.
The brand says that the addition of maraschino cherries ‘makes this a unique style of Amaro and a world first’.
‘Stambecco’ is Italian for ‘ibex’, which is found on the Italian Alps near the distillery and pictured on the label.
‘This approachable Amaro has a complexity to the spirit which makes it perfectly suited for cocktails such as a Stamhattan – a twist on the Manhattan and it can also be enjoyed neat on the rocks or as an ice cold shot,’ commented founder Elwyn Gladstone.
