It comes with a two-month free trial to help furloughed bar staff improve their skills before venues reopen.
The app has been designed to allow operators to maintain staff engagement while also reducing wastage costs through cellar management and beer and cider pouring best practice.
The app is the result of a collaboration between beer giant Heineken and Hello Forward, and its eight courses cover the likes of how to understand and recommend the different styles of beer and cider; cellar maintenance and glassware care; and best practice in storage and pouring. Sessions include challenges, videos, and exercise, and operators can track their employees’ progress.

All operators have to do is register their business and staff details on the Hello Beer website. Each staff member will then receive an SMS with a unique link to download the app for free and get started with their training.
