It is the debut drink from a new Bristol-based non-alcoholic drinks company, Mockingbird Spirit.
Mockingbird Spirit is made with Blue Weber agave and Ashwagandha, an herb often used in Ayurveda that is said to help manage stress and anxiety. It is also suitable for vegans and has just 12 calories per 50ml serve.
The drink is said to have notes of ‘sweet vanilla and cinnamon with a healthy hint of habanero’ and is designed to be enjoyed in mezcal-style, zero-abv cocktails or paired with fresh lime and club soda.
Off-trade sales of tequila soared during the lockdown, according to the company, which reports that Waitrose Limited / John Lewis & Partners saw a rise in sales of 175% over the period.
